Using a calibrated optical encoder, the DDE displays depth and rate per metre. A rechargeable 12-volt battery provides power to the unit for 2 days’ continuous use.

External wireline units are no longer necessary as the DDE operates on the drill rig’s wireline, reducing the capital costs of downhole surveying. The unit is quickly and easily attached to the wireline using a simple slot design.
